We started at 8:00, where Mr.M explained each category. He explained how we only have 3 hours for Filming/Production and 3 hours for editing. He gave us (the Movie Trailer Team) the title, "The Champ" and we were supposed to take that title and make a movie trailer about it, tell a part/portion of the story. Well, our team thought of "The Champ" as in The Champion as like in wrestling or in a fighting match. We rushed to the court where we decided to film, without making a script or a shot list. I think that's kind of where we made a mistake by rushing because we ended up wasting time figuring out what shot should we do after this shot. We didn't really know what the whole video was going to look like or the final product will look like either. Brooke came later, and helped us a lot. She showed us what kind of shots we should take to make it suspenseful and even taught like kajikembo for the fighting scenes! I think we all contributed our ideas and what we thought.
The story we tried to portray went something like this...
Ben and Micah have a fighting/wrestling match, "Round One". Ben suffers defeat and Micah does like this little dance. Anyways, we were trying to make it so that Ben is kind of like the underdog in this story, and that he will turn up to be "The Champ". Brooke came up with this idea where while he is training, we would have Voice Overs with echos that are mean insults, like "You'll never win" and "Just give up"; trying to put Ben down and steer him out of the wrestling. However, Ben won't give up, he takes the insults as a motivator and starts to train, doing push-ups, sit ups, jumping jacks. The trailer ends with the final fight, and they are in-mid position, both punching each other; and then the titles.
I think the team I was on cooperated well. Yes, we had a few bumps but I thought the final product turned out good! I got a taste at how the real competition would be like, and the amount of time given to complete it.
Compared to the other teams, we have a lot of people in the movie trailer competition. I hope that all of us can get involved and we can all contribute to the video and/or the making of it. I can't wait for the next practice! Byee!
