STN 2015 Day 10: Closing Ceremony!

4/4/2015

Hey Everyone! Today was a very suspenseful yet happy day. It was the final day of the STN Convention, Ahhh! It was also the day of closing ceremony, where they announce all the winners of the contests and hand out awards! I was super nervous. The competitions I competed in were MS PSA and MS Crazy 8's Broadcast. We all wore our #hiSTN shirts and sat front row all the way to the left with all of the Hawaii schools. I sat next to Nicole and Angeline, who we're on the PSA team, and Kaden and Dalson, who were the other two main editors along beside me for Crazy 8's Broadcast. They announced a bunch of contests, and revealed Spot Feature. A huge congratulations to the spot feature team, Brandon, Kaden, and Kolten, for placing 1st! You guys deserve it! The whole class was so happy for them. They announced more contests until it finally came to PSA, the onsite competition I was in. I was pretty anxious. We actually placed 3rd! I went up with Nicole since we were the editors, onto the stage to collect the award. Then we took photos with the whole PSA team. The MC's revealed more awards until they finally got onto the Crazy Eights. They announced MS Broadcast first, and we placed in 2nd honorable mention! Since it we were only allowed to bring two people up to accept the award, Kaden let Dalson and I go up since he already went up for their 1st place win in spot feature. After that, they announced MS Crazy 8's short film. Congratulations to the short film team for getting 1st honorable mention! Ben and Kelli went up to the stage for their award. The closing ceremony was fun. I really liked how we sat near all the Hawaii schools, because every time a Hawaii school would win, we'd all cheer loud to represent the 808! We also cheered really loudly for Castaic. Overall, I'm pretty proud of all of us, if you placed in your on site contest or not, we all won for crazy 8's and we all tried our hardest. But as Mr. M said today, sure, winning is great, but that's not what we're here for. We are here to learn as much as we can, and improve so that we can become better filmmakers. But the bigger goal here is to learn life lessons that will help you be successful in life. We took photos of the class, awards, and the Hawaii schools. Then we said goodbye to our Castaic pen pals from CMStv and went to Fashion Valley Mall. I barely got anything, since I already did most of my shopping. Thank you Mr. M for covering the delicious dinner at "The Cheesecake Factory". Then we went back to the hotel and packed our luggages since we leave tomorrow! This has been such an amazing trip, and I cannot express how grateful I am for this experience. I've got to see a bunch of new places, meet new people, and experience so many new things, all with great people. Thank you so much to everyone! Thank you chaperones for cooking and preparing our breakfasts, watching us, and dealing with our messiness! Thank you to my parents, for all your support and guidance in actually making this trip possible. Thank you to all my classmates for making this trip so memorable and fun! Finally, last but definitely not least, thank you to Mr. M! You put in so much effort into this trip, and you've done so much for us! I am serious when I say that words literally cannot explain how thankful I am. Just thank you! I better get going, we have to meet in the lobby at 6:30 for our flight! That's it for my blog! Thanks for reading! Bye!
