Hey Everyone! It is the third day of STN, and it's sure been a hectic one. Yesterday was Crazy 8's, and today was the official day for the individual competitions. Since I am on Convention Recap with Kaycee, we have to create a 2 minute video on the whole convention. We actually got to start shooting yesterday during Crazy 8's. Being that it was Crazy 8's and especially busy, we didn't get a lot of shots, or a big opportunity to. Our production time is the whole convention, so we started shooting some yesterday, and it is due tomorrow at 2pm. Today, we continued shooting for recap. We woke up as usual, and got breakfast in Uncle Don's room. Thank you for breakfast! Their room is on the 31st floor, and they have a pretty stunning view of the city of Atlanta! Our room on floor 3 just overlooks another building. During breakfast, we got to see a nice sun rise behind the city buildings. It was a great site. After we finished eating, Kaycee and I met downstairs at the Lobby, to get our registration packets. We received our ziploc bag that consisted of our basic Recap guidelines, contest rules, and the USB flash drive. Kaycee and I went back up to our room and started to sift through the footage we shot during Crazy 8's. We realized that we would have a lot of footage, and so instead of being stuck at the end with an enormous amount of clips, we'd edit along the way. We imported all the clips shot on the DSLR and the Osmo. Also, to answer your question, Mrs. Chiba, an Osmo is a small three-axis handheld camera and gimbal that allows you to produce steady shots and is controlled through an app on your smartphone. We really managed to narrow down the clips. We then decided we should get music to know the tone of our video. We looked on MegaTrax, the royalty free music company that sponsors STN, but the account was locked and it didn't work. We later got permission from the STN registration that we could use any royalty free site. We spent the whole day filming. We made sure that we were there for the turning in of entries, and filmed two of the deadlines. This was a really pressuring and stressful situation for the editors in the room. I felt really bad for some of the teams that didn't make the deadline. There were a few groups that I saw right that literally was about to let it go into the basket when the countdown ended and they were considered late. It was quite heartbreaking and really sad. We got interviews with four STN participants, whom just so were all first year attendees. We got some lunch, Thank you chaperones for lunch by the way! We went to a middle school mixer and got to meet other STN attendees that were in the same grade. Then we went to dinner at the CNN food court. Kaycee and I spent the rest of the night editing during the STN excellence awards and in the morning. Tomorrow our entry is due so I have to go now! Bye!
