Hey Everyone! Today was a pretty pressuring day...It was competition day! The people who weren't competing in PSA, Movie Trailer, and Commercial, went to breakout sessions. But I did not, since I was in the PSA competition along with Angeline and Nicole, both seventh graders. Commercial and Movie Trailer teams had to their briefing at 8 in the morning, while PSA went at 9. Thankfully, we faced some familiar faces. We sat by Castaic/CMStv! It was so cool getting to be by them, and I'm fact, one of my pen pals, Alexa was there! We talked to Amber, Natalie, Kyle, and Alexa while we waited for it to start, since we got there about 30 minutes early. When it actually started, we also saw another familiar face, Mr. M! Mr. M was in fact, giving the briefing. He explained all the rules and judging, and gave us our topic, "Healthy Habits". He was very kind and let us out half an our before our production time. Nicole, Angeline, and I surprisingly thought of an idea quickly. The idea we came up with was about eating healthy. It was about a person, played by Nicole, who is contemplating whether to eat an apple, or some chips. She thinks about the different things that could happen, like getting overweight, if she eats the chips. Then she thinks about the things that could happen if she eats the apple, like being fit and having lots of energy. Then she has to choose which food item she would like, which is of course, the apple. We filmed and used most of the production time, but left some time to search for royalty-free music. We ended up finding some, and downloaded a lot do we can have a selection of it. The editors, Nicole and I, rushed to the hotel room, but then realized that one of us did not have our lanyards. We ended up retrieving it, but entered the editing room 10 minutes late. Believe it or not, 10 minutes actually makes a big difference. Today I learned that it is important to check that you have everything before you go into an area where you can't come back like an stn editing room. But nevertheless, we used our time productively. We set out our basic idea in less than 10 minutes, and from then on it was just fixing and revising the video. We had to change the structure a lot of time by experimenting to see what works, and what doesn't. In the end, we finished the PSA competition on time, with 10 minutes to spare. Overall, I think the video turned out okay. But turning in the video on time was pretty good in my opinion. Remember though, Mr. M told us that winning is just icing on a cake. Tomorrow is the closing ceremony, where they announce all of the winners for the contests so that should be fun. Anyways, at night, we went back to the ballrooms for the STN Party. I didn't dance for the whole time, but I surprisingly did dance for about half of it. We danced with Castaic near the edge of the middle/"mosh pit", and they even showed us some dance moves! They showed us what a "bass drop" is, and how to do it. It was really easy, which made this really fun. We stood right next to the speakers, which were really loud. I could feel my whole body vibrating, and it was almost as if the speakers were my heart beat. We basically had to scream to talk to one another. I mostly hung out with CKTV, Castaic, and occasionally, Kauai High. The party was nice to have, and was also fun too. STN is over tomorrow at the closing ceremony, so we just have to make the most of it! Good luck to all the schools tomorrow! That's it for my blog, thanks for reading! Bye!
