CKTV Kokee Camp: Pt. 2

9/10/2015

Hey Everyone! This past weekend our class went up to Kokee for our CKTV camp! Last week, our blog topic was about how we could help to ensure the camp's success. If you'd like to read that blog, you can click here. For this week's constructed, response, I'll be telling you about my top three memorable experiences from the camp. Let me just tell you that I had an awesome time at the camp, and I hope everybody did too! I'm happy that I was able to spend this past Labor Day weekend with my CKTV Ohana, because although we may not be related by blood, we are all still a big family. Anyways, the top three memorable experiences from the camp for me would have to be the activities and competitions we did, the photography hike, and just overall getting to bond with everyone.
One of my top memorable moments would have to be all of the activities and competitions we did. One of the events was the kickball and tug-of-war competition, which I have to admit, was pretty fun. Pretty Ironic, right? If you didn't know, I'm not really one on the athletic side, but I really enjoyed the games. All 6 teams split in half, with one side of the class on each team. Now I haven't really played kickball much, so I was pretty confused. I just ran when they started to yell to run, and I even asked Brent (who was on the other team by the way) when I should run. Thanks Brent! There were really funny moments during the game, like when Kaden kept getting Mr. M out. Although Mr. M had really good kicks, Kaden could catch insanely well. Great Job to both of you guys, and to everyone in general! The score didn't matter much, since it was all for laughs and fun. In tug-of-war, it was a pretty difficult game. At first we had the advantage, but soon realized that we only won because the other side was slippery. However, it was fun either way. Another activity we did was the name-that-tune contest. The team I was on, Tripods, consisted of Ben, Kirra, and I. Not trying to brag or anything, but we proudly placed 6th in the competitions. Name-That-Tune was a really funny competition because out of 40 songs we only got like 17. I learned that each person in our group had different music tastes from each other, so it was really interesting how everything panned out. (P.S. Buy "oooeeeooo" on iTunes today). Another game we played was Telephone Charades. It was pretty funny seeing everyone act out the word, or what they think is the word, and seeing how different the outcome is from the actual topic. It was hilarious when people thought the 'cowboy' was 'gangam style'.  The first memorable moment on the camp was all of the activities and competitions.
Another memorable moment from the camp was our photography hike. This was a memorable moment for several reasons. The trail was really muddy and slippery, and at times it was really hard to get up. With the help of others, we all worked together in helping each person get past certain areas. There was a section in the hike where a tree had fallen down, so everyone helped each other get pass it. We warned each other of thorns or branches so that we don't slip, and overall we all had each others backs. During the hike, we had to take photos for a possible postcard fundraiser. Mia T. and I shared a camera, and it was really fun taking a bunch of photos of the nature around us. I learned more about taking photos on the manual setting, which I've wanted to know more about for a long time. We got to mess around with each factor, and by doing really helped me understand how each setting works. Being up in Kokee with no wifi or service, or at times electricity, really exposed us all into the beautiful area around us. At the end of the trail we reached this opening into a pile of large trees, and I thought it was absolutely breathtaking. The second memorable moment from the camp was our photography hike.
The third memorable moment from the camp was just getting to bond with everyone. I totally feel like this camp has brought us all together more, and I've definitely gotten closer to a bunch of new people. During one of the days, Mr. M introduced us to Uncle Ron, who did lots of fun bonding exercises. We had games where we had to mirror each other, or get uncomfortably close to one another. Nonetheless, we all laughed about it in the end. We had a lot of free time, where the center offered many different activities. My personal favorite was playing with cards. We all got into groups and played different card games, and I even learned some new ones which are now my favorite! During the night hike with Uncle Billy, I feel like we all became closer. It was dark, and I literally couldn't see a thing. But we all made sure that everyone was accounted for, and kept track of each person in the front and back of us. Getting to bond with everyone is probably my favorite memorable moment of all.
In conclusion, this CKTV camp has been the best weekend ever, and have been full of many memorable moments. If I had to choose just three, the top memorable moments would be the activities and competitions, our photography hike, and getting to bond with everyone. I'd just like to thank everyone who helped in making this camp possible, the chaperones, (Aunty Christy, Aunty Jodi, Aunty Genevieve, Uncle Gerald, and Uncle Cory), Uncle Billy and Uncle Ron, and of course, Mr. M!!!!! Thank you for all the hard work you go through to make sure our class is successful. I hope we can have another one of these camps throughout this year! I had so much fun! Well, that is it for this week's constructed response! Thanks for reading! Bye!
